1) What I believe to be the attributes of a successful portrait are having something that you can take and focus on. I think the angle in which a portrait is taken and the tone and colors that go along with it can tell a lot about the person. It can either give us a kind of message to show the truth of something for that person during that time or make us believe something that might not even be close to the truth. 2) The portrait of Karen Blixen is a successful portrait because the picture captures an emotion based on the angle, tone, and colors of it. The picture is angled in such a way that gets up close and personal with the woman, capturing her age and her thoughts and emotions shining through her eyes. It really focuses on the woman instead of having multiple objects or other people that you would want to try and focus on and decipher. The woman seems to be aged and possibly tired. She looks to have lived a long life and possibly a good one, but she the look in her eyes possibly
