  The quote, "Tax dollars should not be wasted on art, music or theater classes in high school. Public high schools should be about training young people to enter the workforce. Period.", shows that people believed school should be used to train kids for nothing but work. It shows that people do not believe that art, music, and theater are actual jobs and are just extra classes for kids to waste time in or have fun. The quote is saying that arts and theater does not have any importance whatsoever. Budget cuts have been happening for years now so artitic classes are being cut because they seem to have next to no importance.    Art classes have just as much importance as an English class.
